Plitvice Lakes are the largest and most visited Croatian national park. It consists of 16 lakes, divided into upper (12 of them), from which sparkling water cascades and waterfalls spilling into the lower lakes (4). The upper lakes are larger and deeper, while the lower smaller and shallower, built on a limestone base.
Here is the highest waterfall in Croatia, a large waterfall, 78 meters high, according to the information panel placed next to it. In addition to height, other than the waterfalls different in that it occurs sloughing streams down the steep cliff, while the other falls form a lake. It is a stream of Plitvice, which connects with the Plitvice Lakes at the confluence, the stone recesses at the end of falling flow of the Plitvice waters. Thus united, stream and lake water, make the beginning of the karst river Korana.
