Molat

Molat is an island situated in the northern part of Zadar's archipelago. Although it has just about 22 square kilometers, it has three settlements there: Molat, Brgulje and Zapuntel connected with a local road. The largest distance between them is seven kilometers. It is connected to the mainland, the nearest town Zadar with daily ferryboat line. It is probably the most attractive island of Zadar’s archipelago due to the peace, silence and the charm of Dalmatian hidden paradise. It has all the necessary for relaxed vacation; shops and restaurants, museum and sport facilities, clean worm sea and plenitude of sunny hours for perfect holiday far away from crowded tourist centers. From 1409. it was under the jurisdiction of Venice, which robbed it constantly and kept double taxes there. Few times it was robbed even by the Turk. Even though boundary was abolished in 1848. in Croatia, it preserved on Molat until 17. November, 1937. The tree main settlements are situated in the interior of the island, but most of 222 permanent inhabitants now live in small hamlets on the sea side. Their main occupation are agriculture, sheep breeding, fishing and tourism. Almost everyone who renting cozy and pretty holiday apartment, has a boat, even little one, and can take you cruising around the island to show quiet bays and beaches.
