Kaštel Novi is village situated along the coast of the Kaštela Bay, to the north-east of Split.The fortress’ central construction is in Kaštel Novi, around which the village was later developed, ordered by Pavo Antun Ćipiko in 1512, whilst the village core consists of the clock-tower, the church and the town loggia. This village is attractive for its simple beauty and offers numerous possibilities for practising sports and recreation. Kaštel Novi is also well-known for the entertaining evenings and folk festivals. The field above Kaštel Novi, has always cultivated vineyards - particularly the old varieties such as kaštelanski crljenak, in which is probably best known throughout the world and in particular in California as Zinfandel, although not many plants still remain here.
