Žaborić

A small place for a big vacation Žaborić is not a proclaimed tourist destination which makes it a perfect place for vacation. It is located in a bay surrounded by hills that protect it from the north winds and islands that protect it from the sea waves coming from the south. All the houses in Žaborić are facing the sea. The place is quiet and calm and almost without traffic. The name Žaborić derives from the word "behind the pine tree", actually the dense pine forest that was once here and of which only remains can be found now. At the top of the peninsula is a white Lounge bar, overlooking the island of sponge hunters and the old town of Krapanj. Quiet and uncrowded beaches along the peninsula are perfect for families with children. One can choose between the sandy beach on the north side and the pebble beach on the south side of the peninsula. Above the sandy beach, in a thick pine forest, lies hidden another Lounge bar. The third and the last one is located in the small harbour and is mostly visited by local people. A hundred meters away is a restaurant. There is also 1 pizza restaurant and 2 supermarkets in the village. Žaborić is a separate entity in itself, but only a few km away one can find everything that everyday comfort requires: supermarkets, pharmacies, markets, discos, tennis courts, recreation area with horseback riding activities, other restaurants and bars etc. Žaborić is in fact an ideal place for vacation. Even in July and August it is not crowded and there is more than enough space to spread your beach towel right in front of the sea. May, June, September and October are the months in which it appears that everything is meant just for you: vast and empty beaches, restaurants offering plenty of space, equal numeber of guests and waiters, long walks, empty benches in the shade. The sea is warm and the days are full of sunshine. It is so quiet that you can hear your own heart beating. During March and November the temperature gets around 12-20 degrees celsius with occasional rains and short lasting colder weather. These days are perfect for those who prefer privacy or who are engaged in intellectual work.
