Tucepi (1770 inhabitants) is a famous tourist destination situated 3 km south-east of Makarska. Tučepi is one of the oldest colonies in the foot of the Biokovo mountain. Thanks to its wonderful nature, rich ground and spring waters this place has an almost four millenniums old history. Tučepi is the next place east of Makarska, the town attracting other places in the coast region of Makarska (region in the foot of Biokovo, in the south part of Middle Dalmatia).The charming Dalmatian villages, built in the traditional Mediterranean style, became depopulated during the past decades, and the life was displaced to the coastal part along the longest beach under the Biokovo. This is now one of the most attractive summer resorts in Croatia . In the place there is a marina, sheltered against the wind and sea breakers with one outer break-water. The place is located 80 km distance from the airport, and the new-built toll-road Zagreb-Split made the drive Zagreb-Tučepi to last only 4 hours.
